All is Weighed Fairly when Balance is Gifted

This painting portrays the Egyptian Goddess Maat, the overseer of justice and fairness. She balances the scales of what must be rearranged for cosmic order and truth. Her symbols are the scales and the feather, and she is often depicted with wings and an ostrich feather atop her head.

Maat has been a guiding presence throughout my life, appearing at times when justice and order were needed most—in my personal relationships and also in service to others, standing in universal strength to support those in need of advocacy and guidance.

She came to me to be painted during a time when I deeply needed her wisdom. Drawing on her strength helped me make one of the biggest decisions of my life. Her presence and guidance created space for balance and order to return in the way I needed most—and for that, honouring her through this piece felt not only natural, but necessary.
